W.K.West Ltd (Westpack) has a policy to comply with the current Environmental Protection Act, other associated statutory legislation and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP).  This applies to all those who are employed within the company or who are protected by its undertakings.  This policy is available to interested parties on request.

At Westpack we are committed to protecting the natural environment we share, continually improving our environmental impact, decarbonising of operations, and improving our practises to adapt to climate change. There is a moral imperative for everyone to act regardless as to if they are governance, staff, customers, suppliers and the wider community. At Westpack we proactively aim to exceed all applicable environmental legislation, such as The Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 1997.

Our environmental strategy, commitments and measurement of activities are detailed in our Sustainable Procurement Policy, Supplier Code of Conduct, CSR Policy and CSR report which is reviewed on an annual basis.

It is our policy to do all that is reasonably practicable to:

  • Set objectives to continually improve our environmental management
  • Work with Suppliers who have signed the Westpack Supplier Code of Conduct which covers environmental commitments
  • Reduce our carbon footprint through sustainable procurement including but not limited to vehicles, fuel and energy
  • Ensure vehicles are clean air zone compliant
  • Reduce consumption through investment in efficient machinery and equipment
  • Monitor and review water consumption to ensure responsible use
  • Ensure equipment is environmentally disposed of in line with appropriate end of life legislation
  • Provide training to staff to ensure they can incorporate our environmental strategies within their daily activities
  • Strive to reduce the use of paper
  • Recycle equipment, waste products, redundant items and reduce the consumption of consumables
  • Invest in the wider community to reduce environmental damage and rejuvenate the ecosystem
  • Aim to reduce pollution and actively implement processes and procedures that improve environmental performance.
  • Implementation of initiatives has limited our impact on the environment, through waste source reduction-usability and recycling to reduce the amount of waste ultimately going for disposal via landfill and incineration.
  • Carry out an annual review and update of this policy and other environmental control systems employed by the firm.

Employees are asked to co-operate in the operation of this policy and make a positive contribution to environmental protection by making themselves aware of the firm’s environmental policy and complying with the control measures in place.
